Flavio Poli (1900–1984) was the artistic director for Seguso Vetri d’Arte from 1934 to 1963, where he popularized the sommerso (“submerged”) technique. This method involves layering different colors of glass to create a “suspended” effect without the colors mixing.
Authentic lamps from this 1950s–1960s period often feature organic shapes like teardrops or spheres and may include aventurine (gold fleck) inclusions.
Original glass is excellent with no chips or cracks. Emerald green enameled base is original with some slight wear/imperfections as shown. Professionally rewired. Brass fixtures and finial are original. Original Patina.

Iconic piece of Mid Century Modern design. Sourced from original owner in Orange County, CA. Original Receipts also available on request.
The Nelson Marshmallow Sofa (1956) was inspired by inventor Irving Harper, who approached George Nelson with a proposed machine that could produce low-cost cushions. Since each cushion would have a maximum diameter of 12 inches, Nelson and Harper perched 18 of them atop a steel frame and back to see how they’d look. The machine didn’t pan out, but the sofa’s design was so compelling that Herman Miller produced it anyway. Available in many fabrics and leathers, this is the original Marshmallow Sofa.
